Boltless Shelving You Can Assemble in Minutes

Boltless shelving, also sold as rivet shelving, assembles by dropping beams into slotted uprights, so a bay goes up without bolts or tools and can be re-pitched later in minutes. JTD Jinta builds it in cold rolled steel with 38x38 mm uprights, 0.5 to 0.8 mm shelf panels and 1.0 to 1.5 mm beams, in 900x300x1830 mm and 1200x450x1830 mm standard bays or any size you specify.

Buyer FAQ

Boltless Rack Questions

What does boltless shelving mean?

The beams lock into slots in the upright instead of bolting through them. Rivets on the beam ends drop into keyhole slots and seat with a tap, so a bay goes together with a rubber mallet and nothing else.

Is rivet shelving the same as boltless shelving?

Yes — the trade uses both names for the same thing, along with "slotted angle" for the lighter versions. The rivet is the stud on the beam end that carries load into the upright slot. Quotes using either term describe the same product.

How do you install rivet shelving?

Stand two uprights, tap the bottom beams in on all four sides to square the bay, then work up level by level checking it stays square. Shelf panels drop on last. One person can build a bay; two is faster on the taller sizes. No tools beyond a mallet.

How does it hold weight without bolts?

The rivet seats into a keyhole slot and the load pulls it down into the narrow part of the slot, so weight tightens the joint rather than loosening it. That is why boltless bays do not need re-tightening the way bolted frames sometimes do.

When should I choose boltless over beam racking?

Boltless suits hand-loaded stock: cartons, parts bins, back-of-store and stockrooms, roughly up to a few hundred kg a level. Once you are putting pallets on with a forklift, move to beam racking — boltless is not built for point loads from forks and will not take the impact.
