The Line

Cantilever Rack

Cantilever racking removes the front upright so long and awkward loads can be slid straight onto the arms. It is the right structure for timber, pipe, steel bar, extrusion and panel board, where a conventional pallet rack would force you to cut material to fit. JTD Jinta builds single and double sided cantilever racks with adjustable arm pitch, sized to the load and the aisle you actually have. Arm levels are rated 500 to 3,000 kg, so the same frame covers light stock and heavy duty cantilever rack duty.

Buyer FAQ

Cantilever Rack Questions

What are cantilever racks?

A column with arms bolted out from one or both sides and no upright across the front. That open face is the whole point — timber, pipe, bar, extrusion and board slide straight onto the arms instead of being lifted over a beam or cut to fit a bay.

What are the disadvantages of using cantilever racks?

Three real ones. It uses more floor area per tonne than beam racking, because the arms need clear space in front to load. It must be anchored, so it is not something you reposition casually. And it is poor value for palletised goods — if your stock sits on pallets rather than being long and awkward, a conventional beam rack stores more in the same footprint for less money.

Do cantilever racks need to be anchored?

Yes, and unlike a back-to-back beam rack this is not negotiable. With no front upright the load sits forward of the column, so the base has to be bolted to the slab. Double sided runs counterbalance each other and need fewer anchors than single sided ones.

How much does cantilever racking cost?

Price tracks steel weight: column section, arm length and how many arm levels. Longer arms cost disproportionately more, because the column and base have to grow to stay stable. Tell us the longest item you store, its weight and the run length, and we quote per column set with container loading.

How much weight can a cantilever rack hold?

Our range runs 500-3000 kg per level, but the honest answer is that the rating belongs to a configuration, not to a product. Load is shared across however many arms the item spans, so a long item is easier on the rack than a short heavy one sitting on a single arm.
